In April, I'll celebrate 5 years of Blythe loving and collecting. It could have been more than that if I'd not postponed for nearly a year the purchase of my first girl... But I remember clearly the day of Blythou's arrival. I was stunned. It was love at first sight. She was dirty, with matted blonde hair, grimy legs & half-naked. I cleaned her, dressed her up in Skipper clothes and started to take her out everywhere with me.
And as soon as Mondrian was released, I got her, since Blythou was feeling a bit lonely. I then bought every single Takara release and stopped after LL. My family was huge and unmanageable.
I've sold my doubles (Kozy, Mondrian, AB). Sold some of my neglected babies (BB, GG, DB, CB, LL, SD, SB, FP). I'm thinking of selling my RN and my FruPu. I'm also thinking of building them a loft, one of these days.
I wish I were a better photographer. And a better seamstress/knitter/crocheter (does that word exist ?). I've given up customizing forever. But I'm not ready to give up my dolly obsession, even though I no longer want to buy a girl.
Oh, and I've just started again to honor an old tradition : from now on, I'll have a different girl on my desk every day. It'll help fight off the lonelyness I feel sometimes, spending hours by myself, locked up in front of Pommy.
I can't believe a small vinyl person like Blythe has given me so much pleasure. I've been collecting a lot of stuff throughout the years, but I've never treasured anything like my girls.
Blythou out.
